TITLE: Middle School Assistant Principal
LOCATION: Bennett Middle School
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
DATE AVAILABLE: 2026-2027 School Year
SUMMARY:
Bennett School District is seeking a dedicated and experienced educational leader to assist in overseeing the operations of Bennett Middle School as a Middle School Assistant Principal. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to building positive relationships that foster a positive learning environment, promoting academic excellence, and ensuring the holistic development of all students. This full-time position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and the community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- State of Colorado Principal Licensure
- Master’s Degree in Education
- Three years as an Assistant Principal or Principal is preferred
- Five years of successful teaching experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & School Administration
- Assist the Principal in the overall administration of the school, including curriculum development, staff management, and student discipline.
- Ensure the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by staff and students.
- Keep the Principal informed of school activities, needs, and concerns.
- Conduct staff meetings as necessary to ensure effective school operations.
- Serve as a role model, demonstrating professionalism and ethical behavior.
- Assume responsibility for student attendance and conduct in the absence of the Dean of Students.
- Support teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies and best practices.
- Observe, evaluate, and conference with teachers and staff, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Participate in the recruitment, screening, hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of professional staff.
- Provide and support professional development opportunities aligned with school goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Academic Programs & Student Achievement
- Monitor student progress and academic performance; implement interventions to support student success.
- Analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate progress monitoring, data analysis, and state reporting requirements.
- Assist with IEP meetings and ensure appropriate support for students with special needs.
Scheduling & Operations
- Assist in developing the master schedule and student scheduling processes.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of secondary school handbooks.
- Coordinate and supervise extracurricular activities and student programs.
- Plan and oversee school events and activities that promote engagement and learning.
Assessment & Accountability
- Assist in the administration and coordination of state and standardized testing.
- Support data collection and reporting required for accountability systems.
- Use assessment results to guide school improvement efforts.
School Improvement & Compliance
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Unified School Improvement Plan (UIP).
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
School Climate & Community Engagement
- Foster a positive, inclusive school culture focused on respect, equity, and high expectations.
- Collaborate with parents, families, and community partners to enhance educational opportunities.
- Support student behavior systems and promote a safe, orderly learning environment.
Safety & Emergency Preparedness
- Assist with planning and supervising fire drills and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Help ensure a safe and secure environment for students and staff.
EVALUATION: Annually by the Building Principal
STARTING SALARY: $86,000-$96,000 (based on experience)
