Description
The Early Childhood Lead Teacher position is for an education professional eager to participate in the development of a growing Reggio-Emilia inspired academic program and help create and support a unique school culture. Bennett Day School teachers understand that the craft of teaching is dynamic; they adapt to and integrate this belief in their daily work in the classroom and school community. The Early Childhood Lead Teacher will work in collaboration with their grade level and other teaching teams, as well as the specialist teachers and Division Head, to integrate rich, developmentally appropriate programming in the classroom.

- Program and curriculum development experience; inquiry-based and/or project-based learning preferred
- Deep engagement in pedagogical trends, research, and best practices
- Experience/professional development in/with special education
- Experience with technology as a tool for teaching and learning
- 3 years experience as early childhood lead or co-teacher; Experience in progressive education preferred
- Education Background: a Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in education preferred

Job Requirements:
- Physical strength to independently lift 15-20 lbs
- Fluency in written and oral language in English
- Ability to oversee and ensure the safety of children in and out of the classroom
Job Specifications:
- Grade-level curriculum development
- Individual student documentation and evaluation
- Mentoring, collaboration and communication with Assistant Teacher
- Family communication: home visits, four conferences, family open house, weekly newsletters/blogging
- Professional Development: Wednesday afternoon, ongoing professional development in and out of school, beginning and end of year PD
- Collaboration, communication, and integration with Specialist teachers (Art, Music, TESLab, Spanish, PE)
- Participation in self-evaluation and reflection process; individual and team meetings with the Division Head
- Participation in family/community evening/weekend events: Curriculum Night, Family Association Meeting and 2 of the following required; Parent Panel, Open House, New Family Play Date or other additional Admissions/Marketing outreach events.
- Supervision Responsibilities: Recess, lunch, snack as assigned
- Participation in Morning arrival or dismissal duties as assigned
- Classroom materials preparation, maintenance, ordering
- Hours: 7:30a-4:00p M/T/TH/F; 7:30a-4:30p W (PD)
