What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engraver for Dynamic Design Studio position at Bennett Awards?
We are a nationally recognized design studio with blue-chip clients located across the globe. We specialize in creating high-end custom awards. Our design studio is a dynamic, creative, and flexible work environment located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills in Placerville, CA.
We are looking for a talented, flexible engraver to engrave our awards before shipping them to our clients. This role will primarily consist of preparing Adobe Illustrator files with engraving layouts, and then engraving these on bases or awards using one of our four laser engraving machines (Epilog, Trotec, Galvo and XTool lasers). The ideal candidate will have experience using these machines; however, we will train the right candidate in the use of these machines if required.
You will need to be highly proficient with Adobe Illustrator and have working knowledge of the rest of the Adobe suite. You’ll also need a GREAT eye for design and have a solid understanding of the fundamental rules of typography and typographic layouts. You must be able to follow workflow procedures and work in conjunction with our account managers, designers and production team to ensure projects are completed correctly and on time. Finally, it is critical that we ship correctly engraved awards to our customers, so a fanatical attention to detail is required.
As a small, dynamic family business, team members are often required to help in other areas, including packaging, assembly, and shipping. You will need to be flexible and willing to help in these areas as needed.
Engraving - Technical Qualifications
- Highly proficient with Adobe Illustrator
- Fundamental knowledge/proficiency with Adobe Photoshop.
- Fundamental knowledge/proficiency with Adobe Lightroom.
- Proficiency with Windows5, as all our lasers only work with Windows.
- Experience with a laser engraving machine (especially Galvo) strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and MS Office Suite.
General Qualifications

Compensation and benefits
The position offers a base pay of $22/hour. After a three-month probationary period, employees will be eligible for paid vacation (PTO) and participation in the company’s profit-sharing program.
Work schedule
Approximately 30 hours per week to start; may expand as candidate gains experience. The job will require on-site work from 9am – 4pm Monday through Thursday. Some additional work may be required depending on work volume, but this will be the exception and not the rule.
