Job Description

Benjamin Franklin Charter School is looking to hire a Health Assistant. If you have previous healthcare experience and enjoy working with children in a school setting, this position may be the job for you!

Responsibilities

• Provides basic first aid to campus students and staff
• Administers daily prescription and over-the-counter medications to students in accordance with school policy under the supervision of the school administrator and maintains accurate records of medication given
• Administers rescue medications, including inhalers, Epi-pens, etc. as prescribed by medical professionals (with appropriate training)
• Performs medical procedures such as diabetic care, seizure care, and other medical duties as prescribed by medical professionals (with appropriate training)
• Notifies principal and Lead Nurse in any and all emergencies
• Adheres to all policies, regulations and rules
• Performs related duties as requested
• Performs all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Healthcare, EMT, Medical Assistant experience or training
• CPR and First Aid certified
• Will be required to pass a criminal background check upon hire

Duties may include frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 25 pounds. Employees may be required to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally. This position will require the employee to have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
