The Staff Accountant is hired or appointed by and reports to the Accounting Manager.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Accounting Manager in all necessary functions to ensure all accounting functions are properly carried out. The Staff Accountant is hired or appointed by and reports to the Accounting Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Ensures that all transactions are entered accurately in Great Plains, and assists in balancing all balance sheet accounts and recording income statement transactions in accordance with GAAP and federal regulations
- Responsible for the maintenance, in good order, of all journal entry records and other files assigned to this function and the safekeeping of all company records including computer information
- Maintains accurate liability and asset files and Great Plains cards
- Draft correspondence with regulatory agencies and/or other entities as necessary
- Prepares sales tax filings monthly and/or quarterly
- Maintain accurate physical Asset files and assists with corresponding Great Plains cards
- Assists the Accounting Manager in performing month-end and year-end closing procedures in order to produce financials statements in accordance with GAAP
- Timely and accurate production of the draft of Financial Statements with minimal revisions
- Ability to correspond with Accounting Manager to ensure all accounting functions are being fulfilled efficiently and accurately
- Ability to accomplish tasks efficiently in order to take on more assignments from other areas or the Accounting Manager
- Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Accounting Manager
- Assist other office personnel in answering phones and taking messages as necessary, and offer assistance to other office personnel if all duties are current and up to company standards and expectations
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Three (3) years minimum financial and PC experience in a small business ($1 - $5 million volume); transportation and/or crane & rigging experience preferred
