What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Manager – Employee Benefits position at Benefits In A Card?
We're looking for an Account Manager – Employee Benefits to join our team right here in Greenville, SC!
Why Join Us?
Benefits in a Card is a growing Greenville-based company on a mission to make employee benefits simpler, more affordable, and more accessible. We're right here in Greenville — no long commute to Greer or Spartanburg — on a close-knit, supportive team where your work is seen, valued, and makes a direct difference for real clients and the people they employ.
If you love working with people, take pride in doing things right, and want to be recognized for the relationships you build, you'll thrive here. You'll have clear processes to work within, leadership that has your back, and real room to grow as we do. We offer a competitive salary and a culture built on collaboration, ownership, and doing right by our clients.
About Benefits in a Card
We provide tailored employee benefit solutions to staffing firms across the United States. Staffing companies employ large, fast-moving hourly workforces, and they turn to us to offer their employees affordable, accessible healthcare while staying compliant and competitive in a constantly changing marketplace.
In plain terms: we help everyday workers get real benefits, and we make it easy for the companies that employ them to deliver those benefits the right way. Our solutions — including ACA-compliant Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) plans, fixed-indemnity and limited-medical products, and enrollment delivered through our easy-to-use benefits wizard — are built to be simple for clients and meaningful for their people.
The Role
As an Account Manager, you are the face of Benefits in a Card to our staffing-firm clients. From the moment a deal closes, the relationship is yours — you guide each client through setup and enrollment, then stay with them as their trusted point of contact for the long haul.
This is a people-first, relationship-driven role. You'll spend your days talking with clients, keeping them informed and confident, heading off problems before they grow, and pulling together the right internal teams to get things done. If you've ever been the person clients ask for by name — the one who actually follows through — this role will feel like home.
What you'll do:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of staffing-firm clients, from onboarding through long-term partnership
- Lead new-client kickoffs, including account setup, enrollment guidance, and onboarding support
- Walk clients through employee enrollment using the Benefits in a Card benefits wizard
- Build lasting relationships through regular check-ins, renewals, and proactive support
- Coordinate across internal teams (Implementation, Customer Service/Call Center, and IT) to resolve issues and keep clients happy
- Share client feedback and insights with leadership to help us improve and grow
This Role Might Be for You If....You may be a strong fit if you've held a role like:
- Client Manager, Account Manager, Account Executive, or Benefits Specialist at an employee-benefits brokerage, insurance agency, carrier, or benefits-administration firm — this is right in your wheelhouse
- Patient services, patient access, care coordination, or a client/customer relations role at a hospital or health system
- Account management, customer service, client coordination, or scheduling/logistics at a large manufacturer or other major employer
- Any role where you owned a book of accounts or clients, coordinated across multiple departments, and were the dependable person people came to when something needed to get done
A benefits or insurance background is ideal — but if you've got the relationship skills and the drive, we'll teach you the products. If you're looking to bring your strengths somewhere with a shorter commute, a team that appreciates you, and real room to grow, let's talk.
What We're Looking For:
- 2 years in account management, client management, or a client-facing services role where you were responsible for keeping people satisfied
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills — warm, persuasive, and confident in person, on the phone, and over email
- Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple clients or accounts at once without dropping a ball
- A collaborative, team-oriented spirit — you do your best work alongside people, not in isolation
- Comfort coordinating across teams to solve problems and follow through to resolution
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
- A self-starting, can-do attitude and the adaptability to thrive as the company grows
Strong pluses (not required): experience in employee benefits, insurance, or benefits
administration; a Life & Health insurance license; familiarity with renewals, open enrollment, and carrier/vendor coordination; experience in the staffing industry or healthcare.
Location & Schedule
725 Lowndes Hill Road, Greenville, SC 29607 On-site, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Eastern). This role is fully in-office, so candidates should live within a reasonable commute of Greenville.
Benefits in a Card is an equal opportunity employer. If this sounds like you — or someone you know — we'd love to hear from you.
Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
