HOUSEKEEPER
Responsible to:
Housekeeping Supervisor
Job Summary: the housekeeper provides clean, orderly, and healthy surroundings within the community, areas include Our Lady of Rickenbach (OLR), main monastery, guest houses, and other sites when directed by the housekeeping supervisor. This job includes light maintenance tasks.
Essential Functions:
- Able to follow protocol sheet for each area assigned to clean (e.g. bedrooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, rest rooms, chapel, activity areas, television rooms, game room, computer rooms, cleaning supply closets, phone booths, kitchen and living room areas, staircases, hallways and basement/lower hall areas)
- Clean designated areas throughout the above areas under job summary when assigned to that area; cleaning includes but is not limited to dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
- Perform light maintenance tasks including but not limited to changing light bulbs, using small hand tools (hammer, screwdriver (to tighten/loosen screw) etc.
- Empty trash cans and properly dispose of trash and recyclables.
- Provide laundry services as assigned
- Clean windows, faux wood, plastic, metal blinds, as needed
- Report broken equipment and furniture to supervisor and/or maintenance dept for repair/replacement
- Notify supervisor when cleaning supplies, need ordered/restocked
- Take note of areas that need attention for cleaning
- Stock cleaning supplies after delivery, if assigned
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor from time to time
Requirements:
This individual must:
- Have the physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, twist to get to high, low and difficult-to-reach places
- Tolerate exposure to various cleaning chemicals and detergents
- Lift 25-50 pounds without restrictions
- Tolerate standing for long periods of time
- Operate machinery (e.g. carpet cleaner, floor scrubber, vacuum cleaner, clothes washer & dryer etc.)
- Manage time well and prioritize needs
- Be available and flexible if needed with hours
- Work well with others, as a TEAM
- Climb up/down a ladder and be able to set up the ladder for cleaning specific areas
