Nursing Home Administrator Job Description

Our health care administrator manages the day-to-day operations of Our Lady of Rickenbach, the health care facility for The Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration. This facility provides personal and medical care to individuals who need care and assistance over time. The administrator ensures Our Lady of Rickenbach runs smoothly while ensuring compliance with The Benedictine Convent’s regulations and standards of care. The administrator serves as the intermediary between sisters, staff, and monastery leadership. The administrator for the Benedictine Convent must be licensed in the State of Missouri and have at least Five (5) years of previous administrator experience.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of Our Lady of Rickenbach and keep it on track for its long-term goals and mission.
- Communicate regularly with the monastic leadership of The Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration and keep them well-informed of sisters’ needs and care.
- Coordinate and provide leadership to the clinical staff and coordinate with the custodial teams and ensure that they work together effectively.
- Hire (and fire) employees at Our Lady of Rickenbach.
- Evaluate new employees at 30, 60, 90 days and conduct yearly evaluations for all staff.
- Ensure the facility operates in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure sisters’ individual care plans are being followed.
- Provide regular safety and compliance training.
- Act as a liaison between Our Lady of Rickenbach and the Convent leadership, the public, the staff, and the sisters.
- Coordinate medical and health services in collaboration with nursing staff and healthcare providers, keeping the Convent leadership informed.
- Foster a positive, safe environment for sisters and staff.
- Address and resolve complaints from sisters.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Provide leadership and guidance during emergency situations.
- Organize staff meetings and training.
- Assist in the development of an annual budget and maintain the budget.
Qualifications and Skills
· Strong ethical standards and commitment to sister’s care
· Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field
· Current state licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator preferred but must poses a valid license in administration
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare management role
· Experience working in a healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care
· Proven leadership and management experience
· Excellent leadership, effective communication, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
· Experience in staff training and development
· Strong communication and public relations skills
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
· Financial management skills, basic knowledge of accounting and financial principles
