Test Development Engineer I

Summary:

Coordinates test strategies and develops test solutions for customers. Test solutions may be in-circuit test (ICT), functional test (FCT), environment stress screening systems (ESS) or support systems for these developments.

Responsibilities:

• Focuses on test generation and documentation, for product test solutions using standard test platforms or wholly custom test developments, to provide manufacturing solutions that meet both the customers’ requirements and the Benchmark manufacturing support groups’ requirements
• Develops proficiency on at least one platform
• Performs evaluation of quality measurements on a tester/fixture development in accordance with a validation plan
• Creates documentation related to a tester/fixture design project
• Contacts and works with test component vendors
• Follows project plan and report project status to leadership
• Assists in project proposals and associated cost estimates
• Understands and contributes, as able, to test strategy development discussions on customer team(s)
• Works with internal manufacturing support groups to understand the requirements of the production environment
• Assists with design for testability reviews; Create necessary documentation
• Works with Sustaining Test Engineering to effectively transition test solutions to production
• Learns and begins to work with advanced technologies (Boundary Scan, ISP, embedded test, etc.) as needed and under specific direction
• Develops an understanding of Design for Testability philosophy and promote with customers
• Communicates with customer technical personnel regarding basic test issues
• Communicates technical challenges and works with peers to implement solutions
• Participates in test strategy development discussions on customer team(s)
• Develops day-to-day project activity organization in accordance with test development procedures, including financial planning and review of financials as part of a project post-mortem
• Participates in continuous improvement activities with complete documentation, including a follow up review with the team in a presentation format

• Understanding of advanced technologies (Boundary Scan, ISP, embedded test, etc.)
• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions
• Ability to make good judgments using sound engineering principles and techniques
• Proven ability to complete projects in a timely manner
• Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation as required
• Excellent presentation skills
• Ability to work well individually or in teams
• Demonstrate ability to work effectively with suppliers
• Available for travel up to 5% of the time, including day and overnight as required
• Demonstrate aptitude with test development applications (FCT: National Instruments Test Stand, LabVIEW, Lab Windows – ICT: Agilent board test development applications)
• 0-5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, developing electronic hardware and software

• 4 year Engineering or Technical degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by senior management

Full Time

Compensation Range: $70,272.00 to $85,000.00 USD Many factors are considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to skills, certifications, licensures, experience, training, incumbent data, and other business needs.
