Job Description
Benchmark School is seeking a school counselor, psychologist, or social worker for our grades 1-8 school for students who learn differently. Benchmark School remains committed to the social and emotional well-being of its students. To meet this commitment, the ChildFamily Support Services Department was created to provide support and consultation for its students, parents, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Providing support to students through individual counseling and group meetings
- Teaching weekly class meeting lessons (Affective Curriculum)
- Offering ongoing consultation to parents and staff as needed
- Leading parent groups and workshops periodically
- Communicating with students, parents, and other staff members in a positive, clear and professional manner
- Demonstrating an openness to learning, growth, and change in accordance with the educational philosophy of Benchmark School
- Actively pursuing professional growth and development through professional reading and participation in professional development activities in and outside of Benchmark School
- Participating in periodic evening or weekend activities, including meetings, professional development activities, and school events
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology
- Licensed and advanced certification preferred
- Minimum of three years' experience working with school-age children preferred
- Ability to work well with a team
- Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues and parents
- Enthusiastic interest in motivating and supporting students
- A role model for students
