Join Benchmark Human Services as an Assistant Director! Benchmark's Birth to Three program is involved in all aspects of care for the youngest among us. Children’s Services help babies and toddlers with disabilities or delays learn new skills that typically develop during the first three years of life including physical, cognitive, social/emotional, and communication skills.

The Assistant Director will assist with the operational functions of the Birth to Three Program. Support program development through staff training, assessment of the needs of families and providers, and serve as active participant in the early intervention community. Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Oversee the program in Director’s absence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with all Federal and State regulations, including those outlined in the Connecticut Birth to Three Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist with oversight of the program, including recruitment, public awareness and all administrative functions associated with operating the Program
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the program in a sound businesslike manner, including supervising staff, identifying and assisting families of eligible children, networking with community partners and collaborating with school districts and other community resources.
  • Ensure that all service providers receive the training, support, and work time necessary to fulfill the requirements of their positions.
  • Assist with hiring of early intervention staff as well as training and mentoring staff.
  • Maintain consistent communication with team members.
  • Conduct observations of interventionists as needed.
  • Schedule and conduct team meetings on a monthly basis.
  • Develop and/or coordinate trainings for staff.
  • Receive referrals and assign staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations as directed.
  • Serve as mentor for early intervention staff.
  • Develop and implement work improvement plans and/or disciplinary reports as needed.
  • Facilitate staff meetings.
  • Assist with program policy and procedure development.
  • Carry assigned caseload if applicable and determined by Program Director.
  • Assist with file reviews and quality review audits.
  • Assist with performance reviews for early intervention staff.
  • Work with little direct supervision, be organized, and must meet timelines and deadlines to accomplish the administrative functions of the Program.
  • Monitor service authorizations, billing and assist corporate with billing process.
  • Participate in Birth to Three sponsored trainings, meetings and learning opportunities as appropriate.
  • Review IFSP and related documents to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with the developing policies and procedures as indicated by program needs.
  • Actively participate in early intervention related committees/workgroups.
  • Facilitate staff growth and development to ensure best practice.
  • Shall participate in statewide meetings and conference calls as directed.
  • Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of all staff and clients we serve.
  • Act as public relations person on behalf of Benchmark in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years’ experience in early intervention is desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, leadership or related field.
  • Prefer education in one of the following: Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child/Human Development, Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Nursing, Behavior analysis or Psychology, with an emphasis in behavior analysis.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledgeable about best practices in early intervention.
