Summary: Manage Accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company’s future. Engaged as part of the management team that will work as a team to drive home the goals of the corporation. - Oversee all activities of the Accounting Department for the accuracy and timely dissemination of financial management reports including but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits and annual budgets.
- Responsible for the preparation of operating reports reflecting assets/liabilities/earnings/profits/cash flow/balances and other key financial results.
- Formulates and administers accounting policies and practices.
- Prepares or directs preparation of tax information returns or reports for government agencies.
- Oversees the activities of Accounts Payables ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, expense reports, cash control, payroll processing and total payroll tax compliance.
- Represents the Company to outside agencies regarding financial issues.
- Ensures accounting staff abides by regulatory guidelines, human resource policies and top management directives when performing their duties.
Job Specific Competencies:
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent plus 5 years general accounting and management experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations involving a variety of solutions.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software including Accounting software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Must be spreadsheet proficient.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: National Career Readiness Certificate preferred.
Essential Physical Functions: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
