Job Title: School Based Program Manager
Overview: The School Based Program Manager is responsible for leading an in-school team of Mentors that delivers an effective diversionary program designed to reduce out-of-school suspensions and connect students to long-term support through Bench Mark Program. This is accomplished by building strong relationships with School District administrators, teachers, staff, and high school students throughout the school year.
In addition to leading the Suspension Alternative Program, the School Based Program Manager oversees Bench Mark Program's Chronic Absenteeism Initiative, ensuring students and families receive the support needed to improve school attendance, engagement, and long-term success.
- Know every student in the Suspension Alternative Program and develop an individualized plan to meet their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Build meaningful relationships with students during and after program participation to support long-term success.
- Lead the day-to-day operations and overall execution of the Suspension Alternative Program.
- Facilitate high-quality programming and lessons while coaching staff to deliver them effectively.
- Coordinate academic support and student interventions through direct service or delegation.
- Oversee all student documentation, including attendance, daily notes, progress reports, and graduation reports.
- Manage all student referrals, intake, scheduling, and program completion decisions.
- Develop and maintain monthly program schedules, including lessons, check-ins, and student activities.
- Monitor program metrics and use data to improve student outcomes, evaluate effectiveness, and inform decision-making.
- Supervise, coach, delegate to, and evaluate the SAP team through regular feedback and biannual performance reviews.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, counselors, families, and district staff.
- Respond to student crises and make decisions regarding safety, behavior, and program participation.
- Expand program services, partnerships, and resources to better meet student needs.
- Identify and recommend students for continued Bench Mark opportunities, including the Student Leadership Program and Open Gym.
- Ensure the program meets organizational goals, grant requirements, and School District expectations.
- Continuously improve program systems, curriculum, and operations to maximize student impact.
- Uphold Bench Mark Program's mission, values, and standards while fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and student-centered service.
For All Staff Members in each Program:
- Represent Bench Mark Program professionally in all interactions with students, families, donors, volunteers, partners, and community members.
- Use organizational resources responsibly and practice good stewardship of program equipment, supplies, and facilities.
- Demonstrate a team-first mindset by assisting with organizational needs and supporting other programs when requested or when additional help is needed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming program spaces by cleaning up after activities and taking ownership of shared environments.
- Operate Bench Mark Program vehicles safely and responsibly while following all organizational policies.
- Ensure Bench Mark vehicles are fueled (refill when the tank reaches one-quarter full), cleaned, and free of personal belongings after each use.
- Promptly report any vehicle maintenance, safety, or mechanical concerns to the Director of Programs, Executive Assistant, or Executive Director.
Reporting Structure: School Program Manager will report to the Director of Programs
Hours for Role:
- During the School Year: Mondays through Fridays: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- During the Summer: Flexible Hours (Must reach between 36-40 hours each week)
Pay Rate: $56,000 to $62,000
Pay: $56,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
