Position Title: Team Lead / Shift Lead
Reports To: Assistant Manager / General Manager
Overview
As a Team Lead or Shift Lead at Ben & Jerry's, you are a frontline leader responsible for setting the tone of the shop, supporting your team, and ensuring smooth operations during your shift. You'll model leadership behaviors, coach team members, and help maintain the high standards of service and vibe that define our brand.
Core Responsibilities
- Shift Management
- Oversee daily operations including opening/closing procedures and checklists.
- Assign breaks and maintain pace, quality, and cleanliness throughout the shift.
- Communicate with GMs or Assistant Managers regarding issues or updates
- Team Leadership
- Lead by example with energy, fairness, and consistency.
- Support team flow and morale, especially during rushes or customer challenges.
- Provide coaching and feedback using respectful, behavior-focused communication
- Customer Service
- Ensure exceptional service by anticipating customer needs and resolving issues calmly.
- Encourage suggestive selling and multitasking for speed and satisfaction.
- Accountability & Inclusion
- Take ownership of your shift and model accountability.
- Treat all team members and customers with dignity and respect.
- Uphold systems and standards consistently.
Leadership Pathway
- Level 1: Team Leader Peer modeling and vibe setting.
- Level 2: Shift Leader First formal leadership role with coaching and troubleshooting responsibilities.
- Level 3: Assistant Manager Supports GM with specialized programs and team management.
Pay:
