Job Summary:
The Seasonal Parks Laborer 2 employee works directly under the direction of the Grounds and Buildings Foremen. The Parks Laborer 2 position duties will include but not be limited to the administering and performing a wide range of park maintenance duties as related to the Belvidere Park District Parks Department.
General Hours:
Schedule, classification, & hours for this position are as follows and may change if necessary.
Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm
Working weekends maybe required
However, the parks are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year and schedules may vary to cover nights, weekends, emergencies, special events and holidays.
Essential Functions:
· Assist with the daily grounds, horticulture, and building maintenance operations for the district.
· Collaborate with other maintenance staff to achieve departmental goals.
· Assures that tools and equipment are properly maintained and kept in proper working order.
· Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.
· Participate as a team member to assist and improve the overall services to the community.
· Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
· Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures as designated by the district.
· Performs other work-related duties and functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Required:
· Basic knowledge of materials and supplies used in grounds, horticulture and facility maintenance and repairs.
· Basic knowledge of principles relating to grounds as it relates to turf, athletics, and equipment and vehicle maintenance.
· Basic knowledge of principles relating to horticulture as it relates to natural area, trees, and landscaping maintenance.
· Basic knowledge of principles relating to facilities as it relates to playground, concrete, and general building maintenance.
· Ability to operate several different types of equipment and tools used in performing maintenance duties.
· Ability to follow standard safety practices and procedures common to the maintenance field.
· Ability to work cooperatively and productively to complete work assignments and projects in a timely manner.
· Ability to apply good judgment and practical knowledge to resolve unusual or irregular problems in the area of work assigned.
· Strong oral and written communication.
· Ability to work unsupervised.
· Ability to work in several environmental extremes; those typical of the Midwest region.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.80 per hour
