What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Specialist position at Belvidere Park District?
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Grounds Foreman, The Grounds Specialist position is responsible for performing all aspects of grounds maintenance for the Belvidere Park District.
Essential job duties include:
- Providing comprehensive maintenance care for all park and facility grounds, including turf, roads, parking lots, trails, outdoor athletic fields, and landscaped areas. Responsibilities include tilling, planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, irrigation, pest management, and overall upkeep to ensure safe, attractive, and functional spaces.
- Assist with snow removal and garbage pickup.
- Assist with tree care and weeding.
- Train new staff to ensure that the parks are clean and safe for all visitors.
- Assure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and kept in working order.
- Follows District procedures and policies
- Performs other work-related functions as assigned
Qualifications:
Staff must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must possess a valid Illinois commercial not for hire pesticide license or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
- First Aid, CPR and AED certified within 60 days of employment
- Must be able to perform moderately physically intense work with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Be able to work scheduled shifts
Scheduling & Pay:
This position is a full-time year-round position. Schedules will be Monday-Friday 7am to 3:30pm. However, a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours may be required when the need exists.
Pay Range: $16.55-$24.54 an hour.

Pay: $17.38 - $26.50 per hour
