Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections of vehicles, including brakes, lights, tires, exhaust systems, and electrical components, ensuring adherence to state regulations.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to conduct repairs or adjustments identified during inspections.
- Conduct automotive tire changes, wheel alignments, and basic vehicle maintenance as needed to support inspection processes.
- Assess mechanical systems such as engines, transmissions, suspension components, and electrical systems for safety and compliance.
- Document inspection results accurately using auto estimating software and maintain detailed records of each vehicle inspected.
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding inspection findings, recommended repairs, and compliance requirements while delivering excellent customer service.
- Assist with auto body repairs or auto restoration projects when necessary, utilizing mechanical skills and automotive parts knowledge.
Requirements
- Valid certification as an Automotive State Inspector with current licensing in accordance with state laws.
- Proven experience operating standard passenger cars and familiarity with automotive tire change procedures.
- Strong mechanical knowledge including vehicle maintenance, mechanical systems repair, and automotive electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with auto estimating software, vehicle inspections, auto repair techniques, and auto body repair processes.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and heavy lifting equipment safely and effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to clients.
- Demonstrated mechanic experience with a solid understanding of automotive parts and accessories.
- Knowledge of automotive service standards and safety protocols required for vehicle inspections.
