The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes in the school district. This position collaborates closely with coaches, school nurses, administrators, and healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes participating in school-sponsored sports programs
Responsibilities
- Provide immediate care and first aid for student-athlete injuries during practices, games, and school-sponsored athletic events.
- Develop, implement, and oversee injury prevention programs for student-athletes.
- Perform injury evaluations and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation services.
- Maintain detailed, up-to-date records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation plans.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, parents, and healthcare professionals regarding student-athlete care, limitations, and recovery timelines.
- Monitor environmental and physical conditions to ensure athlete safety (e.g., weather, field conditions, equipment safety).
- Educate student-athletes on proper training techniques, injury prevention, and overall wellness.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state athletic association regulations, and applicable healthcare laws.
- Attend athletic practices, games, and events as assigned.
- ?Manage and maintain the athletic training room, supplies, and equipment.
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or related field.
- Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
- State Licensure or Registration as required by state law.
- ?Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Experience working with high school or middle school athletic programs.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- ?Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, staff, and parents.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and physically assist injured athletes.
- ?Travel within the district and to off-site events is required.
