Registered Nurse (RN) – Ambulatory Surgery Center
We are seeking a dependable, skilled, and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center team in Texas. This full-time position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient perioperative care across pre-op, intra-op, and post-op settings. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical expertise, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit to ensure exceptional surgical outcomes and patient experiences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as circulator in the operating room, ensuring patient safety and maintaining strict aseptic technique.
- Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to prepare and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Recognize and report variations in patient vitals, including heart rhythm, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure.
- Prepare OR setup and assist with supply opening while maintaining a sterile field.
- Assist with patient positioning and padding to avoid injury.
- Ensure accurate documentation of surgical procedures and events in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Monitor and restock medications and supplies; identify and dispose of expired items.
- Assist with equipment sterilization, turnover between cases, and maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, including performing Basic Life Support (BLS) if needed.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and infection control standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Required: Current Texas RN license in good standing
- Required: BLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
- Preferred: 1–2 years of recent nursing experience in an ASC or hospital setting
- Preferred: ACLS certification; familiarity with ophthalmic, orthopedic, GI, or ENT procedures depending on ASC specialty
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent standing and walking for extended periods (>2/3 of the shift)
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Manual dexterity for handling instruments and equipment
- Clear vision (close, distance, color, and peripheral) and ability to adjust focus
- Regular use of computer systems and clinical devices
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Exposure to moderate noise, surgical equipment, bodily fluids, and cleaning solutions
- Work near moving mechanical parts
- Frequent collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and support teams
MENTAL DEMANDS
- Ability to follow detailed clinical protocols and respond effectively in urgent situations
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Clear and compassionate verbal communication with patients and staff
- Ability to accurately document care, complete incident reports, and update EMRs
