What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Teacher and Maternity Leave position at BelovED Community & Empowerment Academy Charter Schools?
Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring Lead Elementary School Teachers for the 2026/2027 School Year and Beyond! NJ DOE K-6 Certification is preferred. We will consider P-3 Certification as well. We one Maternity Leave position and one Lead position left.
For the Maternity Leave, you will be covering a Maternity Leave for approximately 5 months. However, we can still offer you a full contract and you can transition into a Staff Sub when your teacher returns. CE/CEAS/Standard Certification is required. This most definitely can lead to a full-time teaching position.
We also have a First Grade Lead opening.
Salary when Lead Teaching: $68,500-$88,500
Salary when Staff Sub: $47,000-$57,000

TEACHER SUPPORTS
Teachers at Empowerment Academy are part of a school-wide team. They receive career-long coaching and professional development support from school leaders; work with their peers in professional learning communities (PLCs) to plan lessons and solve problems; and partner with an array of specialists to meet scholars’ diverse needs.
Examples of such teacher supports include:
- Abundant planning periods during the school day;
- A research-based curriculum and supporting curricular materials;
- High-quality formative assessments, aligned with the curriculum, that help identify when students have not achieved mastery of a skill, concept, or knowledge item; and
- Full-time reading and math specialists who tutor students struggling to master an essential skill, and counselors and social workers who help students struggling with non-academic problems.
Candidates must possess a NJ Department of Education CE, CEAS or Standard Elementary School Teacher License.
Candidates who do not possess the required NJDOE certification cannot be hired. Charter Schools in New Jersey ARE Public Schools. If you are applying for reciprocity, we can work with you on your certification but you must have already applied before reaching out to interview.
