As an Activity Director Assistant, you play an important role in supporting resident quality of life by assisting with the planning, coordination, and facilitation of activities that promote physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being.

Position Summary
This job description is provided during orientation to outline the responsibilities and expectations of the Activity Director Assistant role. This position supports the Activity Director in implementing a comprehensive activity and life enrichment program that meets the interests, abilities, and needs of residents while maintaining regulatory compliance and a positive community atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Core duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Activity & Program Support
- Assist with planning, preparing, and leading group and individual activities
- Encourage resident participation and engagement in activities and events
- Support activities that promote physical movement, cognitive stimulation, creativity, and social interaction
- Assist with set-up, clean-up, and organization of activity spaces and supplies
Resident Engagement & Support
- Build positive relationships with residents and families
- Support residents during activities, ensuring safety, dignity, and inclusion
- Adapt activities to meet varying physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities
- Observe and report changes in resident participation or behavior to the Activity Director
Documentation & Communication
- Assist with maintaining activity attendance records and documentation
- Help prepare and post activity calendars and announcements
- Communicate resident preferences, feedback, and participation trends to the Activity Director
Special Events & Community Involvement
- Assist with community events, holiday celebrations, outings, and special programs
- Support volunteers and entertainers as directed
- Help coordinate transportation and supervision for outings when assigned
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Maintain compliance with DHS Chapter 83 and DHS Chapter 89 regulations as applicable
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and in-service programs
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude
General Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to other departments during special events as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Activity Director or leadership team

Requirements:Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with older adults preferred
- Experience in activities, recreation, or customer service preferred
Certificates, Licenses, and Training
- CBRF Training in First Aid/Choking, Fire Safety, and Standard Precautions training required or obtained upon hire
- Valid driver’s license may be required for outings
