What are the responsibilities and job description for the Para Educator - TK General Education classroom position at Belmont-Redwood Shores School District?
DEFINITION
Serve under the administrative supervison of the school principal and under the direct supervision of a teacher performing supportive tasks that are instructional related and clerical.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare, collect, and correct tests and pupils' daily work.
- Work with a small group in reviewing, re-enforcing skills.
- Tutor individual children.
- Serve as a resource person.
- Maintain classroom records, attendance, typing, duplicating, filing, etc.
- Prepare, gather, arrange instructional materials.
- Supervise students on playground, classroom, or as directed.
- Participate with the teacher in instructional activities.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- May provide supplemental service to students who are eligible for categorical programs.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Be familiar with methods, practices, and terminology used in the program to which assigned.
- Be able to type accurately and use computers.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Be patient and firm when working with children.
- Have initiative.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade.
