Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems
- Collect payments, process medical billing, and manage collections with attention to detail and accuracy
- Maintain organized medical records, review documentation for completeness, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with excellent phone etiquette; direct calls efficiently and professionally
- Assist with intake procedures, update patient information, and support front desk administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and document review
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting, preferably within an optometry or dental clinic environment
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and insurance billing processes
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Prior experience with medical scheduling, insurance verification, and medical administrative support is preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
