What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Pump Technician position at Belmont County Water and Sewer District?
Job Duties:
Maintains a safe and secure work environment. Performs various unskilled and service skilled tasks, including but not limited to: troubleshooting electrical equipment; motor control circuits; relays; motor starters; and transformers. Pump and motor maintenance and repair. Repair and installation of sewer lines, taps, manholes, and air releases. Performs preventative and service maintenance on lift station. Cleans and maintains sewer lines. Respond to customer problems. Flag traffic with knowledge of state and county traffic control procedures. Manual labor such as: digging; spud bar; pick; jackhammer; etc. Mowing and trimming of lift stations and treatment plant. Maintenance of treatment plant including: equipment repair; plumbing repair; and weed control. Assists equal or higher classified personnel. Cleans and maintains department equipment including: hand tools; vehicles; workshop; heavy equipment; etc. Perform other related work as required.
Additional Job Duties:
Operation of video camera equipment. Performs inspections on grease traps and new sewer lines. May perform portions of the work of higher classified positions occasionally as assigned.
Major Work Characteristics:
Essential employee, mandatory overtime. Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures involving the use of hand and/or power tools. Knowledge of SCADA system operation. Ability to read and understand utility mapping and carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Maintain a log of activities. Demonstrate dexterity and skillful use of hands. Read and comprehend advanced vocabulary. Recognize safety warnings. Stand, walk, or bend continuously.

Minimum Requirements:
High school education, valid driver’s license, Class B CDL with tanker endorsement. One (1) year experience in sewer collection.
Unusual Work Conditions:
Exposed to raw sewage, tolerance to odor. May be exposed to various extreme weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, snow, sun). May work evening shift. May be exposed to general outside hazards such as poison ivy or oak. Exposed to potentially dangerous power equipment (e.g., electric drills, saws, grinders, tapping machine, cutting equipment, etc.).
