Position Summary:
Facilitates communication between hearing and deaf or hard of hearing individuals in classrooms and meetings using American Sign Language or other manual sign system; serves as a liaison between deaf or hard of hearing student, hearing students and instructors.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Interpret lectures, class discussions, campus events, and meetings using ASL.
2. Provide interpreting services in a variety of settings including classrooms, labs, tutoring sessions, and advising appointments.
3. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct.
4. Collaborate with faculty and Disability Services staff to ensure effective communication access.
5. Prepare for assignments by reviewing course materials as needed.

Position Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
2. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture.
3. RID certification preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred.
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
This is a part-time, as-needed position based on student schedules and college needs.
