What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Dog Groomer — Commission Pay position at Belly Scrubs?
Belly Scrubs is hiring two experienced dog groomers.
We're a locally owned grooming salon and self-service dog wash on Route 34 in Hurricane. Small team, real clients, no corporate quota sheet. We treat every pet like family and we try to treat our groomers the same way. If you're good at this and tired of being a number, read on.
What we're offering
- 50% commission to start, with a raise to 55% at six months. A real, scheduled step up, not a maybe.
- Uncapped commission. Your book, your pace, your paycheck.
- A flexible schedule. Five days a week are on the table but we are flexible and will work to build a schedule that works best for you. Tell us what you need in the interview.
- A steady book. We're not asking you to build from zero. There's work waiting.

What you'd be doing
- Full-service grooming: bathing, brushing, breed-standard and custom haircuts, nail trims, ear cleaning, deshedding, styling
- Checking coat and skin condition and flagging anything the owner should know about
- Talking with owners about what they want and making sure they leave happy
- Managing your own appointment book and your own pace
- Keeping your station, tub, and tools clean and sanitized
- Handling every dog with patience and care, including anxious and senior pets
- Keeping notes on client preferences so the next groom is even better
What we need from you
- Real grooming experience. You can take a dog start to finish without supervision.
- Comfortable with breed-standard cuts and reading what an owner actually wants
- Safe, patient handling with dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Strong communication with pet owners
- Reliable and punctual. This is the one that matters most — our clients book weeks out.
- A grooming portfolio available on request
- Grooming certification or formal training is a plus, but experience and your work speak louder
What this isn't
This is not a bather position and it's not an apprenticeship. We respect that path, but we're not able to train from scratch right now. If you're early in your grooming career, still send us your info and we'll keep it on file for when we open a bather role.
