TITLE: SEL/MTSS DEVELOPMENT TEAM MEMBER (6 positions)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The SEL/MTSS Development Team will support the continued advancement of our district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) with a focus on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Team members will collaborate to identify tools, develop systems, and pilot programs that strengthen our approach to meeting students’ SEL needs across all tiers of support.
This role will focus on identifying, planning, and supporting pilot initiatives related to SEL screening, student support processes, and Tier 1 instructional tools. This position may include after-school meetings and independent project work as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identify and plan a pilot of potential SEL screening tools for use in grades K–7, including tool selection, logistics, and data collection planning.
2. Develop and refine the Student Support Team (SST) process being developed in the Thriving Minds trainings, including protocols for data collection, progress monitoring, and decision-making.
3. Design and establish systems to collect and organize data from SEL screeners, staff referrals, and Tier 2 interventions, in line with and to support the work taking place through the ongoing Thriving Minds trainings.
4. Assist in the development and implementation of a Tier 1 SEL pilot in grades K–7, supporting the selection of instructional materials, classroom integration, and feedback collection.
5. Collaborate regularly with district and school teams to review data, share progress, and provide recommendations for next steps.
6. Document findings and advise on the development of a multi-year plan to advance this work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be a current member of the Bellingham Public Schools staff
2. Participation in the ongoing training provided by Thriving Minds preferred
3. Demonstrated understanding of MTSS frameworks and SEL practices
4. Experience with student support systems, intervention processes, or SEL instruction preferred
5. Strong collaboration, organization, and data management skills
6. Commitment to promoting equitable, student-centered practices
SALARY: $33/hour not to exceed 16 hours of work beyond contracted hours, subject to grant funding
