TITLE: Special Education Team Chair
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to collaborate with and establish relationships with parents, students, Team members.
- Detailed oriented regarding all facets of students’ needs.
- Organized.
- Experience in a leadership capacity.
- Experience in special education program development and procedures.
- Knowledgeable in special education state and federal regulations.
- Experience leading Team meetings.
- Experience with Special Education Eligibility Determination.
- Experience with TEAM process and role of the Team members.
- Knowledge of disability types, accommodations and adaptations, modifications, and specialized instruction as well as assistive technology.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district curriculum programs.
- Leadership skills in organization, developing goals, best instructional practices, communication, problem solving, and collaboration.
- Technology skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Development of Individual Educational Programs and Related Documents.
- Ability to collaborate with special education and general education teachers, guidance counselors and clinicians.
- Performs other related duties as requested by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and or Building Principal
- Adheres to the district and Bellingham School Committee
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts licensure in Special Education Teaching and/or Special Education Administration
- Master’s degree in Special Education or Special Education Administration
- Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching and/or administrative experience in the field of special education
SALARY: As Per BTA Contract
CLASSIFICATION: BTA
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend, sit or stand frequently.
