Position Objective

The position of school psychologist is for the purpose of providing identified psychological services and support for students in the Bellevue School District.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

School psychologists in Bellevue School District provide direct support and interventions to students, consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals (i.e., school counselors, school social workers) to improve support strategies, work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies, and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services.

  • Evaluate and consult for potential 504 Plan eligibility for students requiring accommodations in the regular program.
  • Administer, score, and interpret individual assessments, including tests of intelligence, achievement, social/emotional skills, functional behavior assessment, and adaptive skills, report data to team members, and write psychological evaluation.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, other district personnel and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations for specific instructional strategies.
  • Facilitate the school multi-disciplinary team for the identification of special needs students and the development of interventions to address those needs.
  • Provide individual counseling and group guidance/counseling for students.
  • Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-services training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements.
  • Supervises interns for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of school's curriculum.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports directly to and is supervised by the Special Education Supervisor

Required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

  • ESA certification as a School Psychologist.

Prefered

  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment preferred.

SKILLS (position Requirements At Entry)

  • Strong oral and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable board policies and district and legal requirements.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This position may be exposed to prolonged exposure to visual display terminals as required.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.

Conditions Of Employment

These are on-call positions. The number of days or hours that a substitute works is dependent upon the number of contracted staff who are absent on any given day. No specific guarantee of work is offered.

Rate of pay is $53.57/hour. Substitutes are not eligible for benefits until they work 630h in a certain school year.
