The Admission/Charge Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering nursing care to residents on an assigned unit during the shift. This includes administering medications and treatments, supervising direct care staff, making clinical decisions within scope of practice, and ensuring care is delivered according to physician orders and resident care plans.
Reporting: This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities
Make daily rounds to assess residents and monitor care delivery
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
Develop and update resident care plans with the interdisciplinary team
Assign and supervise direct care staff during the shift
Provide staff orientation, coaching, and performance feedback
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in EMR
Communicate significant changes to physicians, families, and supervisors
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control, OSHA, and regulatory standards
Assist with survey readiness and quality improvement initiatives
Education and License Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current, active RN or LVN license in the state of Washington
Experience
Experience in long-term care preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Qualifications & Skills
Strong clinical assessment and leadership skills
Knowledge of geriatric nursing and regulatory requirements
Ability to supervise, delegate, and motivate staff
Strong communication and documentation skills
Proficient in EMR systems
Physical & Working Conditions
Skilled Nursing Facility environment
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs independently)
Exposure to a 24-hour care setting serving elderly and medically complex residents
