Position Title: School Safety Liaison – 180 Days, Full-Time
General Scheduled Time: 6:30am - 2:30pm or 9:30am-5:30pm

Purpose Statement
This student support position serves to help maintain an environment fit for high levels of learning through ensuring students, staff, grounds, and property are secure. This role involves building positive relationships with students and staff, and consistent monitoring of the property at Belleville High School.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent. Must provide proof of graduation or GED. Education beyond high school is preferred.
- Experience with students and customer service experience preferred.
- Demonstrate professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills, including communicating effectively and successfully interacting with students, staff and the public using patience, courtesy, and tact.
- The ability to recognize and understand various emotional states when dealing with the public and respond in a professional manner.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Possess or willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certificate and complete Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) training.
- We seek candidates with excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to make good decisions under pressure and during emergencies, and the ability to interact with a diverse public.
- Be able to pass a background investigation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrols district buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
- Conducts patrols of campus, inspects doors, windows and gates to determine that all are secure.
- Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, and/or calls police for assistance, according to the emergency action plan.
- Patrols school grounds to detect and identify unauthorized persons and vehicles; checks vehicles for parking authorization; detect and identify vehicles parked in restricted areas.
- Writes security reports.
- Records security violations.
- Requires bending, lifting, and overhead work.
- Performs other duties as directed.
