What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguards position at Bellefonte YMCA?
The Bellefonte YMCA is currently accepting applications for part-time Lifeguards to be responsible for upholding safety rules, YMCA policies, accident prevention, and emergency response at our indoor pools. Staff are needed to fill a variety of shifts throughout the week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Remain physically and mentally alert, taking a proactive approach to searching for distressed swimmers and hazards.
- Successfully communicate with youth and adults to enforce pool rules and schedules.
- Remain calm, respond effectively, and give clear directions in an emergency situation.
- Maintain safety of pool environment by removing hazards that could lead to injury in or around the pool deck and halting any dangerous behavior displayed by patrons.
- Responsible for helping clean the pool facility, including vacuuming the pool and other duties as assigned.
- Remain physically capable of completing the prerequisite swim test as specified by the American Red Cross to ensure ability to respond in an emergency situation.
Qualifications
- Must be 15 years of age or older.
- At a minimum, some high school level education is required.
- Current lifeguard certification or ability to obtain a certification.
Salary/Benefits
- $13.00 per hour.
