What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Staff position at Bellefonte YMCA?
The Bellefonte YMCA is currently accepting applications for full-time and part-time Child Care Staff. Staff will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the children enrolled in our programs as well as providing an environment rich in activities and experiences to promote the development of each child.
Shifts that need filled include:
- Monday & Friday: 2:15–6:00 PM at Marion Walker Elementary
- Tuesday & Thursday: 2:15–6:00 PM at Pleasant Gap Elementary
- Monday–Friday: 2:15–5:00 PM at Bellefonte Elementary
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of PA Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations.
- Supervise all children and be physically present with the group of children in your care.
- When engaging children in activities, consider the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, special talents, individual style, and pace of learning.
- Assist with the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Interact and participate in games, activities, and special programs with children in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
- Assist in daily communication with parents.
- Utilize positive disciplinary methods including, but not limited to, redirection, positive reinforcement, proactive guidance, and if needed, appropriate time outs.
- Assist with the completion of any necessary administrative paperwork (i.e. meal counts, attendance, incident reports, supply requests, etc.)
Qualifications (should meet ONE of these criteria)
- High school diploma and 30 credits in an education or human services field.
- High school diploma and 600 or more hours of secondary training.
- High school diploma, 15 credit hours in an education or human service field, and 1 year of experience working with children.
- High school diploma and 2 years of experience working with children.
Salary/Benefits
