Responsibilities
- Organize, file, and retrieve patient medical records efficiently within electronic health record.
- Ensure all medical documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with healthcare regulations such as ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
- Review medical records for completeness before submission to insurance companies or other healthcare providers.
- Support medical billing processes by verifying coding accuracy to assist with claim submissions.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or missing information.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding (ICD, CPT, DRG), and billing procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR platforms is essential.
- Experience with medical collection processes and insurance claim management is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret medical records and apply appropriate coding standards.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure error-free documentation.
