What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Coach position at Belle Chasse YMCA?
General Function: Under the supervision of the Wellness Coordinator and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Wellness Coach is responsible for the daily operations of the Fitness Center, while providing high quality services for members, participants, and guests of the YMCA.

Job Requirements:
- Experience in customer service preferred.
- Relate positively with all customers and members.
- Communicate all YMCA programs and activities to members/guests.
- Proficiency in basic computer functions.
- Manage the Fitness Center while exhibiting organizational skills and professionalism.
- Ability to develop and maintain high levels of customer service with members and guests.
- Promote an atmosphere of teamwork and outstanding service.
- Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner, holding true to a commitment to the YMCA’s values, philosophies and ideals.
- Trainings and Certifications: Infant/Child CPR, Adult CPR, AED, First Aid, New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, YMCA Healthy Principles, YMCA Strength and Conditioning and ongoing YMCA Service Trainings. Trainings and certifications must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment or next available certification training. Failure to comply with attending trainings and obtaining and maintaining current certifications will result in Pay Reduction or possible termination.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Cheerfully greets all persons entering/calling the Fitness Center and address questions and concerns with exceptional service and ensures adequate follow up through in a timely manner.
- Effectively communicate all programs and information to members/guests.
- Safely conduct general fitness orientations as well as general fitness assessments.
- Administrative tasks including but not limited to maintaining member workout files, evaluations, organize fitness assessments, etc.
- Assist members with connecting to the other program staff to attain their fitness/wellness goals.
- Help out at times giving tours, answering all questions, and making all members/guests feel well informed and welcome.
- Respond appropriately to any/all safety concerns.
- Continuous maintenance of the fitness equipment is maintained.
- Continuous cleanliness of the fitness center is maintained.
- Ensures that supplies are stocked at all times in the fitness center.
- Report all incidents to direct supervisor and provide any necessary follow-up communication.
- Attend staff meetings and any other training assigned.
- Contribute to the fulfillment of the YMCA mission.
- Active participation in the YMCA’s Strong Communities Campaign.
- Any other assigned duties.
Physical Requirements:
Smiling, sitting, climbing, crouching, standing, kneeling, carrying (25 lbs), pushing, lifting, and walking – all of these functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
