Role Purpose
The Design & Studio Assistant supports the day-to-day execution of residential interior design and procurement work by managing logistical, administrative, and hands-on studio tasks. This role exists to protect the principal’s creative focus and client-facing time by handling operational details .
Core Focus of the Role
This role supports the design process through preparation, organization, and follow-through. Success is measured by smoother workflows, fewer interruptions to the design team, and increased capacity for creative, strategic, and client-driven work within the studio.
Typical ResponsibilitiesStudio & Administrative Support
- Manage errands, pickups, and drop-offs for samples, materials, and small furnishings
- Coordinate shipping, returns, and procurement logistics
- Organize and maintain studio samples, materials, and supplies
- Assist with filing, scanning, and basic record keeping
- Maintain orderly digital and physical project files
Project & Design Support
- Prepare presentation materials, boards, and sample kits
- Assist with procurement coordination, deliveries, returns, and vendor follow-ups
- Support installation days, site visits, and punch-list logistics
- Help designers prepare for client meetings with research, sourcing support, and material prep
General Studio Support
- Take on low-judgment, time-intensive tasks that support active projects
- Act as an extra set of hands during busy project phases
- Help ensure projects move forward smoothly, quietly, and reliably
What This Role Is Not
- Not a lead design or creative decision-making role
- Not responsible for project management, budgets, or timelines
- Not a client-facing leadership position
- Not expected to work independently without clear direction
