About the Role:
The Golf Course Maintenance Worker 2 plays a critical role in ensuring the golf course is maintained to the highest standards, providing an exceptional playing experience for all patrons. This position involves performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the upkeep of turf, landscaping, and course facilities. The worker will operate and maintain specialized equipment to manage grass cutting, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of turf management principles are essential to preserve the health and aesthetics of the course. Ultimately, this role supports the overall success and reputation of the golf facility by maintaining a safe, attractive, and playable environment. This is a seasonal position that starts and May and will end at the end of August. Every other weekend is required to work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience operating turf maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
- Basic knowledge of turfgrass management and landscape maintenance.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and operate equipment safely.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in pesticide application or turf management.
- Experience working on a golf course or similar recreational turf environment.
- Familiarity with irrigation system maintenance and repair.
- Ability to identify common turf diseases and pests.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain mowing, trimming, and other turf maintenance equipment to ensure proper grass height and course appearance.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of irrigation systems to guarantee efficient water distribution and prevent damage.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides safely and according to established guidelines to promote healthy turf and control pests.
- Assist in landscaping tasks including planting, pruning, and removal of trees, shrubs, and flowers to enhance course aesthetics.
- Monitor course conditions daily and report any issues such as turf damage, drainage problems, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance facilities and equipment storage areas.
- Collaborate with team members to complete special projects and seasonal preparations such as aeration and overseeding.
