Bella Ballerina RVA | Chesterfield, Short Pump & NEW Forest Hill

Do you love dance and working with children? Keep reading, as this may be the perfect role for you!

Bella Ballerina RVA is the area's premier dance studio for young children, serving dancers ages 18 months through 10 years old. We're looking for enthusiastic, reliable substitute teachers to join our growing team for our Winter 2026-27 season.

Substitute teachers would be eligible to pick up shifts at all three of our local studio locations. Class times span seven days a week and all times of day, so we are looking for candidates with some schedule flexibility to pick up last minute shifts!

We provide an extensive paid training program, a supportive team environment, and all of the tools you'll need to feel confident in the classroom. If you're looking for a fun, rewarding part-time job where you can inspire young children through dance, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As a Bella Ballerina substitute instructor, you'll pick up substitute shifts as-requested, either in advance or last minute in the case of emergencies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching engaging dance classes for children ages 18 months to 10 years
  • Preparing your classes using Bella Ballerina's curriculum
  • Creating a fun, encouraging, and professional classroom environment
  • Communicating with families before and after class
  • Depending on your assigned shift, assisting with studio clean-up at the end of the day

Paid Training

We believe great instructors are trained, not expected to know everything on day one.

Before teaching independently, every new instructor completes:

  • Approximately 10 hours of paid at-home training
  • Approximately 10 hours of paid in-person training

Our training program is designed to ensure every instructor feels confident, prepared, and supported before stepping into the classroom.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Paid training
  • 401(k) with company match
  • A supportive team environment with opportunities for growth

Required Qualifications

You do not need to be a career dance teacher to thrive in this role.

Some of our most successful instructors danced throughout middle school, high school, or college before pursuing completely different careers. They simply missed having dance in their lives and wanted a meaningful, fun, part-time job working with children. We provide extensive paid training to help every instructor become confident and successful.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a ballet, jazz, or tap background and familiarity with ballet, jazz, or tap dance terminology (professional or competitive experience is not required)
  • Loves working with toddlers and young children
  • Is energetic, positive, and encouraging
  • Is dependable and professional
  • Communicates well with both children and adults
  • Is excited to be part of a creative, collaborative team
  • Wants to make a lasting impact on children's lives

If you're looking for a rewarding part-time position where you can share your love of dance while helping young children build confidence, strength, and a lifelong love of movement, we'd love to hear from you!
