Job Description

Bell & Spina, Architects-Engineers, P.C. is a full service mid-sized architectural firm with expertise in architecture and building sciences for the design and restoration of building enclosures. We are seeking a Project Architect with prior experience to join our team and work on a variety of projects for commercial, institutional and Higher Education clients focusing on architecture, building enclosure and sustainable design. The desired candidate will be responsible for leading day-to-day design strategies, production of contract documents, coordinating and assisting the Project team from project beginning to closeout. The ideal candidate will have proven skills in design and construction documents, construction administration and project management on small and large projects.

Requirements

• An interest in the field of exterior façade, masonry, roofing & waterproofing, historic restoration of institutional, commercial and municipal buildings.
• Interest and/or prior knowledge in building science principles and diagnostic tools such as THERM, and WUFI.
• For candidates desiring consideration in sustainability, interest and experience in sustainable design strategies, and third-party green building rating systems and LCA and energy performance.
• Critical thinking with ability to balance multiple assignments.
• Responsible for specific technical design aspects and production of an assigned project, including investigation. evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client’s needs.
• Specific tasks may include meeting with clients, writing/ contributing to technical reports, production of AutoCAD drawings/ BIM Modeling, conducting field investigations and field documentation.
• AutoCAD proficiency is required. Revit, SketchUp and Photoshop are desirable.
• Familiarity with public, municipal and private client types including NYS OGS, DASNY & SUCF is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
• Licensure is desired.
• 6-10 years of architectural design experience, preferably with a focus on building envelope systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
• Strong understanding of building materials, systems, and construction methods.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• A passion for sustainable design and innovation.
