Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical vehicle issues using diagnostic equipment and hands-on troubleshooting
- Inspect vehicles to identify necessary repairs, maintenance needs, and potential safety concerns
- Perform general automotive repairs and maintenance, including oil changes, brakes, suspension, batteries, tires, tune-ups, and other common repairs
- Diagnose engine, transmission, electrical, braking, steering, and other vehicle system concerns
- Perform pre-sale inspections and help ensure vehicles are safe and ready for sale
- Clearly document inspections, diagnoses, repairs performed, and parts needed
- Provide accurate recommendations regarding necessary repairs
- Help establish efficient shop procedures for inspections, repairs, parts, documentation, and vehicle status tracking
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Properly use and care for shop tools and equipment
- Work with management to prioritize vehicles and keep repairs moving efficiently
Qualifications
- Previous professional automotive repair or technician experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair
- Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts
- Comfortable using automotive diagnostic tools and scan equipment
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair jobs
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Dependable, punctual, and organized
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Automotive technician training or trade school education is an asset
- ASE certification is an asset but not required
