Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Housekeeping worker to join our team at Bell Avenue Nursing in Elk City, Oklahoma. As a Housekeeping worker, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for our residents and staff. This is a full-time position that requires flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions, including cleaning, laundry, and maintenance of common areas and resident rooms
- Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
- Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be
- Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information
- Participate in department studies and projects as directed
- Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
- Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift
- Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from equipment or floor surfaces, using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions
- Work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning
Requirements:
- Must possess, as a minimum, an 8th grade education
- None required; on-the-job training provided
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism
- Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel
