A well-established and respected local non-profit organization is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to oversee both the accounting and HR functions of the organization. This is a highly visible and impactful role for an experienced accounting professional who is passionate about the non-profit mission and thrives in a lean, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance

• Own the full accounting function including month-end and year-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Prepare and distribute accurate and timely financial statements for leadership and the board
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
• Oversee grant accounting, fund accounting, and compliance with donor restrictions
• Coordinate with external auditors on the annual audit and ensure all documentation is organized and audit-ready
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements

Human Resources

• Oversee HR functions including payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee recordkeeping
• Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations
• Serve as a resource to staff on HR policies, procedures, and benefit-related questions
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes and maintain accurate employee files

Qualifications

• CPA highly preferred
• 4 years of progressive accounting experience required
• Non-profit accounting experience strongly preferred including familiarity with fund accounting and grant compliance
• QuickBooks proficiency strongly preferred
• Previous experience handling or supporting HR functions a plus
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a lean organization
