Reports to: Building Principal
Location: Ridge View Elementary (2 positions available)
Status: Hourly - $15.00-16.88
Schedule: 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM Monday- Friday
Cross Walk Aides
- Requires outside work and following safety rules.
- Works in all types of weather extremes.
- Ensure the safety of all children at assigned schools/cross walk.
- Stop traffic at appropriate times.
- Enter the intersection prior to the first child and remain there until the last is safely across.
- Standing and walking are regular functions of this position.
- Wear safety vest and use hand held stop sign to control traffic flow.
- Monitor student(s) individually, in small or large groups in a variety of circumstances
- Shift is scheduled typically between 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. in the afternoon.
Playground Aides
- Ensure the safety of all children at assigned schools/playground.
- Requires outside work and follows safety guidelines.
- Works in all types of weather extremes.
- Requires mobility to walk around the playground.
- Assumes responsibility for play equipment.
- Organizes group games and activities as needed.
- Standing and walking are regular functions of this position.
- Monitor student(s) individually, in small or large groups in a variety of circumstances
- Shift is during noon hour, typically between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Lunch Room Aides
- Supervises student’s lunchtime and maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts.
- Organizes group games and activities as needed.
- Directs movement of groups to and from playground, lunchroom and classrooms in a safe and organized manner.
- Assists staff in lunch room clean-up.
- Reports disciplinary and other concerns to the Building Principal or Classroom Teacher.
- Work is done inside.
- Standing and walking are regular functions of this position.
- Monitor student(s) individually, in small or large groups in a variety of circumstances
- Shift is during noon hour, typically between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Job Requirements
- Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
- Reliability to work assigned work shift.
Physical and Mental Demands and Work Hazards
- Performs routine work.
- Regularly works inside with minimal temperature variations (lunchroom)
- Regularly works outside and exposed to varying temperature extremes (Crosswalk and Playground)
- Regularly walk and stand.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
- Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments.
- May be required to lift or carry up to 20 pounds on a infrequent basis with or without an accommodation.
- Guidance and reinforcement are usually unavailable.
- Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another.
- Effective hearing and speech abilities.
- Work area is generally a hazard free environment.
