The Belchertown Public Schools is accepting applications for a long term substitute Athletic Trainer: 6 Week AssignmentResponsibilitiesNature and Scope of Job: To provide athletic training services to student athletes engaged in interscholastic athletic activities which are conducted by Belchertown High SchoolProvide and assist with preventative programs as needed, includingSupervision of rehabilitationAppropriate application of protective taping, padding, wrapping, bracing, or dressingMaintain accurate records of injuries and treatments;Provide appropriate preventive servicesMake appropriate medical referrals to physician when warranted and inform parents, school nurse, and athletic director of said referralsDevelop and maintain Plan of Care with School Nurse and School Physician, when applicableCommunicate with ambulance services, EMTs and all medical staff, when appropriateDevelop and maintain protocols for emergency care with the approval of the School Nurse and Athletic Director; keeping coaches informed of the Emergency Action PlanDevelop and maintain updated concussion guidelines with the District PhysicianKeep a cooperative working relationship with the School nurses and any other member of the medical staffHelp maintain updated clearance listsBe aware of any medical condition of student athletes and their Individual Plan of Care for athleticsEnsure that the training room is maintained in an orderly, functional, and sanitary mannerCreate and keep a positive training room environment for all student-athletesAttend athletic events in accordance with a schedule developed in consultation with the athletic directorProvide Athletic training services during said athletic contests to visiting teams as wellDevelop and maintain a budget for the athletic training suppliesBe the liaison between student-athlete, parents, coaches, physicians, and specialistsEnsure the safety and well being of all student athletes on and off the fieldEnsure the adherence to the MIAA and district policies regarding athletic participation and play with respect to medical safety and clearanceProtect the confidentiality of records and information about student athletesAssist the Athletic Director as requested to perform other duties and responsibilities that are within the scope and law of athletic trainingAdminister and maintain records of all concussion-related testing and protocols, communicating with the school nurse with respect to any clearance/return to play and/or full academic participationCommunicate needs and concerns to parents in a timely manner in reference to injuries
