What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Shop Manager position at Belcan?
• Strong understanding of CNC machining and equipment. Lathes, mills, drills, Multi Axis equipment. Ideally familiar with our Mazak and our specific equipment.
• Competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings. GD&T with tolerances is critical.
• Knowledge of tooling, fixturing, cutting parameters, and process optimization.
• Comprehension and capability to discuss CNC programming and background codes. Drafting software.
• Scheduling and prioritizing. Understanding of how long a program will need to run or potentially how difficult it will be to machine a part. Optimizing set ups. Where to build inventory, buffers, supermarkets.
• Understanding of Tooling, quick change perishable vs live tooling vs carbide. Some capability to know what works and what is a waste of time and money.
• Strong collaborator with ME’s, data driven with approach to pareto and problem solving.
• Managing people and shift work. Timekeeping, KPI’s, etc. Coaching and leading while maintaining accountability.
