KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform advanced engineering and design support services, including shallow and deep foundation design and analysis, retaining wall analysis, slope stability analysis, and pavement design.
- Conduct specialized analysis for settlement, ground improvement, temporary excavation support, sinkhole assessments, and mine subsidence exploration.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical engineering reports, including subsurface investigations, soil analysis, and geotechnical recommendations.
- Develop design calculations, technical drawings, and construction specifications for a variety of geotechnical projects.
- Complete analytical modeling for geotechnical evaluations and prepare comprehensive evaluation reports.
- Oversee geotechnical laboratory operations and develop project-specific laboratory testing programs to support subsurface investigations and design recommendations.
- Manage a variety of geotechnical projects, including laying out and scheduling drilling and investigation programs.
- Oversee construction activities, including test boring logging, foundation, and retaining structure construction.
- Interpret and evaluate site conditions, specifications, and construction drawings (e.g., ODOT plans).
- Mentor and lead project team members to ensure successful project execution.
- Prepare all project correspondence, budgets, schedules, and final documentation.
- Actively network within professional and business organizations to foster client relationships and promote geotechnical services.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
- PE license or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of hire
- Experience with common geotechnical software programs such as Slide, GSTABL, Settle3, gINT, Tab Logs, Geosystems, UA Slope Program preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, computer operating systems, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey technical information to clients and team members.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize workloads, and maintain accurate record-keeping.
- Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. Driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to handle physical demands: repetitively lifting 50 pounds, standing for long periods, walking on uneven ground, and working in various weather conditions.
