This is a full-time, on-site position based in Youngstown, OH.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field sampling and quality control/quality assurance testing on soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, ODOT, and PennDOT procedures.
- Conduct moisture-density testing for soil and asphalt compaction.
- Monitor and document concrete placement, slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight; prepare, cure, and test concrete specimens.
- Conduct footing inspections, floor slab inspections, subgrade inspections, and proof roll inspections to verify compliance with project specifications.
- Collect representative samples of construction materials for laboratory testing.
- Maintain precise, legible field logs and test reports.
- Properly maintain, calibrate, and transport testing equipment.
- Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with clients, contractors, and the public.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Working toward a degree in civil engineering, geology, construction, or related field (preferred but not required)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications (will train)
- Ability to obtain necessary certifications through the company.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in varying weather, and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
