JOB TITLE: HIGH NEEDS (LIFE) PARA - BEL AIR ELEMENTARY
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma
- First aid/CPR certificate desired
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator; Special Education Teacher
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Administrator, Special Education Teacher
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months; 30 hours/week
EVALUATION: Special Education Teacher; Building Administrator
JOB GOAL: Assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to students
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Consistent and punctual "on-site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
- Types, draws, writes, and duplicates instructional material; makes educational games and aids
- Listens to students read, and reads to students
- Helps students with make-up work
- Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
- Assists students in interpreting and following the directions of the teacher
- Drills - to reinforce any skill the teacher has taught
- Alerts the teacher to the needs of students
- Assists the teacher in checking the progress of individualized study projects
- Supervises lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms, and other assigned activities
- Prepares bulletin boards, charts, and graphs
- Assists with the physical and health needs of the children, such as feeding and toileting
- Does miscellaneous typing and filing
- Inventories books, materials, and equipment
- Assists when emergencies arise
- Performs other delegated non-instructional responsibilities assigned by the teacher or administrator
