About the role
Your Impact as Plant Manager
To organize, direct, and control manufacturing operations of the Orrville plant to achieve agreed upon targets and results within approved budgets. Implement defined Steel Wire Solutions (SWS) strategies and direct all activities at the facility according to Bekaert Corporate standards and policies. Establish the necessary work environment, processes, practices, and staffing to support achievement of established targets.
Your Essential Job Functions
- Establish and maintain control procedures that guarantee the achievement of safety and environmental standards that conform to legal requirements and Bekaert Corporate policy.
- Direct and control the manufacturing of steel wire products and solutions allocated to the Orrville plant by the SWS Commercial team, ensuring their quality and cost standards. Advise the Commercial team about plant capacity.
- Direct and control all capital project activities while maintaining close coordination with BMS and the appropriate Bekaert support groups in Belgium (Bekaert Engineering).
- Prepare strategic plans for the plant, annual operating plans and annual budgets that are integrated with the worldwide SWS plans, objectives, and goals.
- Strategically develop capital project plans for the plant that provide for consistent improvement in manufacturing capabilities to meet Bekaert Corporation’s investment objectives. Implement approved plans.
- Ensure the plant’s buildings and equipment are properly maintained to meet all legal requirements and Bekaert Corporate standards.
- Recruit, train, engage and motivate the work force required to achieve the plant’s operating targets, fostering a high productivity and high-quality work environment.
- Establish and maintain control procedures in the plant which ensure established quality targets are consistently attained. Implement plans that support continual quality improvements and breakthrough in-process improvements and capabilities.
- Plan and manage inventory levels and the flow of materials in the plant to secure the achievement of operating targets at minimum inventory costs.
- Establish and maintain financial control procedures that allow for constant monitoring and reporting of operating costs while meeting all legal and Bekaert Corporate requirements regarding financial matters at the plant.
- Develop and maintain effective sales servicing relationships between the plant and commercial to ensure a proper response to all customer requirements and complaints.
- Develop and implement sustainability initiatives in Orrville to comply with Bekaert standards and targets.
- Keep abreast of all legal requirements of the plant.
About You
Essential skills & competencies
- BA/BS degree Engineering (Metalurgic, Mechanical, Chemistry or related)
- Minimum of 10 years proven plant and/or operations management experience in a related industry (heavy manufacturing and/or metal transformation preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills, continuously reaching out to a broad range of functions and levels in the organization. Stakekholeder management capabilities
- Comfortable in managing ambiguity and complexity. Resilient
- Continuously learning and exploring alternative options, routes and sources to resolve problems, avoids jumping to conclusions
- High level of initiative and ability to work independent, able to determine own direction
