The Project Manager serves as the primary project point of contact for customers from order clarification through design and fabrication. This role is responsible for ensuring project scope clarity, pricing accuracy, timely execution, and overall customer satisfaction while protecting company margins and coordinating effectively across estimating, engineering, procurement, and manufacturing.
This position requires technical knowledge of pre-engineered metal buildings, the ability to interpret architectural and structural documents, and the judgment to proactively manage risk, changes, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical and project contact for assigned customer projects from order intake through fabrication.
- Own purchase order clarification, scope definition, and internal work order generation to ensure project accuracy and smooth internal execution.
- Verify pricing accuracy against approved estimates and contractual terms.
- Prepare, price, and communicate contract revisions, balancing customer needs with company margin objectives.
- Resolve specification conflicts, scope discrepancies, and project issues through effective communication and negotiation.
- Provide proactive project updates and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure a positive Behlen experience.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Drafting, Procurement, and Manufacturing to support on-time, accurate project delivery.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to order clarity, customer experience, and internal processes.
Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of pre-engineered metal building systems, construction fundamentals, and basic engineering principles.
- Ability to read, interpret, and perform take-offs from architectural drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage low-to-mid complexity projects with minimal clarification required from Engineering or Drafting.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify pricing accuracy and contractual scope.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields: Architecture, Construction Science, Business Administration and Management, or Construction Management.
- 5 years of experience in estimating, design/drafting, project management, or construction management.
